About

Traveling has been a serious passion since I was 18 when I went to Hawaii for a vacation and stayed 11 years. In my time living in Hawaii, I visited  and stayed on most of the Hawaiian Islands. I also traveled to Canada  and traveled across the mainland USA for a few months. I have visited Fuji, Tahiti, and New Zealand. After 11 years in Hawaii I returned to Australia and settled down.  I now live in Brisbane. I continue to travel and 10 years ago I went to Europe for the 1st time. The most wonderful beautiful experience. I loved every minute of my time touring around Europe with Cosmos tours and I can  say I had the time of my life. At that time though, I thought this for me was a one off trip. It had never occured to me that I would return. I have in fact returned many times to Europe. Each time  for reasonably long stays and each time I return I learn how to experience it all more easily and more economically. Most of my trips have been to Italy although I have also spent quite some time in the UK and Spain. Italy is the country I love and experience the most and this is my reason for writing this blog. There is so much that I have learned during my many stays in Italy. I plan to share these experiences with you. It may just inspire you to try some of these experiences for yourself.

  5. Hello Lyn, I’ve been enjoying your stories of travel in Italy and reading your travel tips and advice so I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award, you can read about it here: http://twoblackdoggies.wordpress.com/2013/01/19/roll-out-the-red-carpet/. Feel free to accept or ignore, I won’t be offended :-)

  6. Hello
Thank you very much for your nomination and thank you for supporting my bog. I am still very new to the world of blogging so I really do not understand what all this means nor what I must do.
So I gratefully accept the compliment but gracefully decline your offer Thank you
    Lyn

  7. So glad I found your blog. We certainly share a passion for travel to Italy. Thanks for stopping by my blog as well, Lyn

  8. Hi Lyn,

My name is KC Owens, I’m a college student and I love to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found your site and really enjoyed reading your posts. I have been to countries all over Europe with just my backpack and a camera. Since I am a college student and I have significant bills, it can be difficult to find ways to travel the world. However, I have done this several times, with less than ten pounds of luggage and while on a college dime!

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your blog to share my tips and tricks with your readers. I put a lot of time into my traveling, it is my biggest passion and I would love to inspire others by sharing my stories, mistakes and triumphs. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,

    KC

    • Hi KC. Thanx for your comment. Your suggestion to write a post for my blog sounds wonderful. As you probably noticed a main component of my blog is Italy On a Budget. I have not had an offer like this before so not sure how to do it. Do you send the post to me and I then publish it? Which I am happy to do. Grazie KC kind regards Lyn

  9. Beautiful blog Lyn! I agree Italy is one of my favourite places to visit too – I could easily spend a lifetime there.

  10. Beautiful blog! Now I’m following you, please come and visit http://tricchetetracchete.wordpress.com/ thank you, bye

  14. Thanks for stopping by Turquoise Compass. I appreciate the likes and I don’t take them for granted. We are all so busy! I hope you enjoy my travel story! I’ve also followed your blog for more on Italy and the world. P.S. I loved Italy!
    Jessica, Turquoise Compass

    • Thank you Jessica. Your words are so appropriate as I know how much work goes into every story I write. I write because I love to share my experiences but it is nice to be appreciated. I love Italy as you can see and that is what attracted me to your blog.

  15. Cool, I will sign up to follow you so I can read your stories.

  16. Thanks for stopping by Cami’s Travel Tales. I appreciate the likes. Your blog is a great resource for planning my next Italian escape. I hope to touch base in Naples next time.
    All the best,

    • And thank you Cam for stopping by my blog. I have travelled to Italy several times now and each time gets better and easier so I am always happy to share my experiences and any advice. Lyn

  17. We, too, are hooked on Italy. We return every year in November, so if you are there, let me know. We can ‘do dinner’! Thanks for stopping by our blog.

    • Thanx, I will keep that in mind. I usually try to go earlier in the year about spring time but I have been known to be there in November. Thank you for taking a look at my blog also.

  18. Hi Lyn, really enjoyed learning more about Italy through your blogs. I have nominated you for ‘A lovely blog award’. The details will be up on my site later today – it’s really about shining a light on something and hoping that the nominated blogger will then highlight other blogs. Hope you might have the time. Happy travels.

  19. Thanks for the Like, Lyn. I’m always pleased to come across another blogger who appreciates Le Marche – and gelato!

  20. I adore your blog. Such wonderful pictures and descriptions!

  21. Lyn! I am planning to move to wordpress format soon. Lets hope I can. I had a question as I am not very well versed with wordpress. I know your url does not contain “wordpress” and just what you want.

Can you tell me if I can change http://ishitasood.wordpress.com to whatever I want (its under Account settings) or will it require a payment? Thanks much!

PS- I am not very tech savvy :P

    • Hi Ishita. I am delighted that you are changing to WordPress. It is so much easier. You are very observant re my url. Yes I dropped the “WordPress” some time ago. I think it costs me $18 a year. It was really easy with no drama. I cannot remember exactly how I did it. I would have just followed prompts but if I can do it anyone can. Good luck Lyn

    • Hi Ishita. Would you like my email address Lyn

  22. I have to admit that I’m very jealous of all your travels. With Italy especially, I certainly hope to be on your level someday!

  23. Nice blog, Lyn. Thank you for ‘liking’ my post on Monterosso. It is nice connecting with people who also love Italy. Heading to Roma for the first time next week!

Hi Lyn, it looks like we share one love; that of Italy! It’s lovely to see its beauty come to life on your pages! Have you ever visited Sant’Anna in Camprena? Another little place in Tuscany where you feel the magic of that world!

    • Thanks Lina. Thank you also for your generous comment. I have not been to Sant Anna nor heard of it. I just googled it and it looks pretty special

  25. Hi, Lyn. Thank you for following my blog. You can tell I have a little bit of love for that wonderful country, Italy, as you do!

I’ve just about decided to stop blogging, I’m feeling stale just now! Let’s see what happens. Ciao

    • Thanks Yvonne. I feel exactly the same way. I need to head back to Italy as soon as possible to be able to write many more interesting stories

  26. Great site and I look forward to reading more posts!

Many thanks for stopping by and liking my Travel and Photography blog. :-)

  27. Ah yes, but wait til you discover France! You will need a car but gite accommodation is cheap and walking in France is marvellous. The markets are just as good as those in Italy and there is plenty to see

  28. Hi I’m Tacha from Viajando Together and I’m nominating you for the Sunshine Bloggers Award

  29. Wow, another Italophile. What a great blog so many beautiful places you have visited. I will be subscribing. Curious, what is the name of your theme. So easy to navigate. Ciao.

    • Thanks Greg. Yes, I have been having a love affair with Italy for many many years. I also love travelling to other parts of the world especially Hawaii and more recently Vietnam. Thanks so much for your comment and following me. The theme is Chateau and yes it is so easy, both to use and to navigate.

      • Grazie Lyn. My wife and I will be taking our longest trip in August. Three weeks back in Sicily then on to Lago di Garda, and finally another 3 weeks in Roma. I will be checking your previous posts to see what I might have missed and head on over to those places.

      • Well I will sign up now just so I don’t miss out on any of your trip. I have not been to Sicilia, nor Calabria but have been to most other parts of Italy. I especially love Northern Tuscany, Le Marche and Lago Maggiore areas.

  30. Greetings from The Netherlands! Thank you, Lyn for dropping by my blog site. There is something about Italy that draws many people to it. I can see Margie Miklas met you here in WP too for her passion about the country. I met her on Word press too and she has done something beautiful to my recent visit in Rome. Will be reading more of you. Cheers!

    • Thanks Jane. I fell in love with Italy on my first visit 15 years ago and have been fortunate to have returned many times. Thanks Jane

  31. Thank you for visiting and liking my blog. It’s so nice to see how much you like Italy! Looking forward to exploring your blog.
    Grazie mille!

  32. Thanks for dropping by my blog Lyn!!!

  33. Love the pictures and thank you for liking my post on December quotes.

  34. Thank you so much for visiting my blog,Lyn! Its always nice when someone reads my posts.

  35. Traveling is fun, although challenging when one is still working and has just so many days to take off. It would be great to stay for longer period of time in some of the places I’ve gone. But, better to go to places for a limited amount of time than none at all! What’s amazing is how you made it happen — how you stayed in Hawaii for 11 years when your intention in the beginning was just to visit.

    • Hawaii was when I was young and very free. I have always managed to find time to travel over the past many years but now that I am retired I am able to spend extended time in places. Your time till come Karina when you will also be able to spend longer time if that is what you want. In the meantime, just enjoy, it is the best, even when it is tough. thanks Lyn

  36. It’s so lovely to meet you, Lyn! Great blog. I adore Italy (in fact, I’ll be going there at the end of September). I’ve also been to Australia, however just not to Brisbane.
    Have a great day.
    Blessings, Debbie

  37. Thank you for visiting my blog post on Yellowstone. That your blog is about travel to Italy is of particular interest. My father was in Italy in WWII and his war “souvenir” was an Italian war bride. Dad, who came from a very simple American background fell in love with Italy; the music, the culture, and the history. Not so much the food, except the cheese and wine.

    • Thanks Paulie. So you are half Italian. Bella country. I have been so blessed to spend so much time there. Thanks for your comment and for following my blog Lyn

  38. Hello Lyn,
Thanks for following and liking my blog. I appreciate it. By the way, your blog is so interesting. The photos are also amazing. Great Job.

    • Thanks for following me also. I am quite passionate about the food we eat. I cannot understand what the average person is doing to their body with their eating habits. Too much junk food. I have been a fan of Japanese food most of my life plus I especially like the Mediterranean diet. Lyn

  39. So Excellent Blog

  40. Thanks for popping by my little blog!
